FNN Expert Edition: Cyber of the Future
- DARPA鈥檚 Perri Adams on evolving the use of AI to secure cyberspace
- ONCD鈥檚 Nick Leiserson on taking dynamic approach to implementing National Cybersecurity Strategy
- DHS鈥 Donald Coulter and Ann Cox, along with NIST鈥檚 Dustin Moody, on pushing cyber boundaries
As agency cyber teams focus intently on
bolstering their current infrastructures and
thwarting attacks happening every day,
the government鈥檚 cybersecurity leaders realize they must also
think beyond today 鈥 or even next week.
鈥淎s we鈥檙e nose to the grindstone right now, working to implement
the 69 initiatives [in the National Cybersecurity Strategy], we鈥檙e
also looking over the horizon a bit to see what鈥檚 going to be
coming in Implementation Plan 2.0, which we expect to be out in
the spring of next year,鈥 said Nick Leiserson, assistant national
cyber director for cyber policy and programs in the White House
Office of the National Cyber Director. (Read the full story about
ONCD鈥檚 forward-leaning focus on Page 10.)
And ONCD is not alone in planning ahead, as we found out during
our 2023 Cyber Leaders Exchange while talking to industry
experts as well as research leaders from the Defense Advanced
Research Projects Agency, Homeland Security Department and
National Institute of Standards and Technology.
鈥淣obody knows what鈥檚 coming next. But there鈥檚 a lot of steps
we can take today to plan for what may be next and to protect
data into the future,鈥 said Brian O鈥橠onnell, vice president of sales
for 探花视频, which was the presenting sponsor of this year鈥檚
exchange. 鈥淭hat鈥檚 why we spend a lot of time working with our
vendors, understanding the direction they鈥檙e taking, understanding
those future threats.鈥
