Telling Data Stories That Matter: Driving Strategic Decision Making through Empathy

Event Date: September 17, 2024
Hosted By: Resultant, Tableau & ̽»¨ÊÓƵ

In our quest to understand data, we encounter insights that enlighten, information that entertains, and decision points that spur us into action. While curiosity and creativity may drive us to discover and narrate these stories, we must also never overlook another essential motivation: empathy. To tell data stories that truly matter, we must understand both the data and the real people and situations it represents.

This webinar explored how to integrate purposeful empathy at every stage of your leadership role and in your visual analytics process with Tableau—from data exploration to analysis and visual storytelling. We delved into understanding the needs and desires of decision-makers and stakeholders, digging beneath surface-level answers, and respectfully communicating the truth behind the data.

During this webinar, attendees were able to:

  • Discover how to blend effective data visualization techniques with a core value of empathy
  • See how new features of Tableau make it easier to connect with your audience
  • Learn how to transition from abstract concepts to data visualizations that represent reality
  • Gain strategies for probing beyond initial requirements to uncover true needs and desires
  • Explore ways to communicate both positive and negative stories in ways that lead to positive outcomes
