Established in 1895, The Exchange is a non-appropriated fund entity of the Department of Defense, and is the 62nd largest retail organization in the U.S. With annual revenues of $8.7 billion, The Exchange employs approximately 35,000 associates, including military personnel. In 2018, The Exchange produced $386 million in earnings, all reinvested into the military community.

The Exchange operates nearly 4,000 facilities on military installations in 50 states, 4 U.S. territories, and 34 countries. To support combat-readiness and provide foreign-based service members and their families with U.S. products, The Exchange operates bakeries in Europe and Asia under six licenses from U.S. consumer goods companies.

While there's no known cure, symptoms can be managed through strategic efforts. Implementing automated weekly archiving of stale content, leveraging logs and databases to track usage and organize cleanup efforts, creating centralized landing pages, and conducting post-mortems on heavily-used workbooks are effective strategies for combating Tableaut and ensuring streamlined content management in Tableau environments.
